Another Week in Nebraska! 5/18/2015

It was quite the week! Lots of great things happened!
Monday we got to see Valeri with Sister Foketi (a member from the ward) and it was a great lesson. Valeri has severe depression and bipolar disorder, so she struggles a lot. But this lesson really helped her. She's still working on not smoking and drinking coffee. She told us she discovered pineapple chamomile tea though, and said that she absolutely LOVES it and has been trying to replace it with coffee. Smoking she just does out of boredom, so she's trying to do things to distract her and keep her busy. She's decided to read the Bible in 90 days, and then the Book of Mormon in 45. We'll see how she does! We reset her to be baptized June 27. Please pray for her to be able to make that date!
Tuesday we went on exchanges with the Fairview Sisters. I went with Sister Powell in their area and we had a wonderful day full of service and appointments. She's been struggling with her companion because she's training, so we had a good talk about it. As I was going throughout that day seeing the people they're teaching and talking about problems she's been having with her companion, I just couldn't stop thinking about how much pride we all have. Every single sin stems from pride, and I don't know how to get rid of it! Since being on my mission I have discovered how much pride I have, and I can't stand it! And meeting so many different people every day, I have realized how much pride the whole world has. If we didn't have pride, then we wouldn't have problems. Yes, we have to have opposition in all things. But how do we decrease pride? We always hear about how we need to humble ourselves, but we have to have pride at the same time.  Please, if anyone has any thoughts, please share them! It's something that Sister Brower and I have been talking a lot about it this last week because we have some sisters here who quite honestly....have a LOT of greenie pride and we're trying to understand how to help them.
Anyways, Wednesday and Thursday were pretty normal. District meeting, clinic, and TC shifts. it's starting to get pretty humid and I hate it! So muggy and miserable. Gotta love summer :)
Friday after our morning shift at the Trail Center, we went and saw Kaylee. She got kicked out of the Lydia House because of back talking, so we met her at this other homeless shelter that's out of our area and it was really sketchy. It was raining really hard outside and we were on the phone with her while we were walking through mud and rain to find her and we saw a bunch of black men throwing the F bomb everywhere and getting into fights. Yeah, we decided to have the Elders in her new ward boundaries to see her. Thankfully, they happen to be our zone leaders. Then we went to our ward's spaghetti dinner! It was pretty delicious! It was for the Young Women, so they had a cake auction afterwards and lots of people made all these fancy cakes to donate money for the Young Women to go to camp. It was so fun. Cathleen came :) Some members gave us free cakes that they didn't want. Bonus! Then we were able to see Debbie after that and read from the Book of Mormon with her :)
Saturday we had a full day in our area and it was kind of a frustrating day. Rained all day and all our appointments fell through because of it. We did get to see Valeri again though, so that was good!
Sunday was Sister Young's birthday! Church was great, then we were at the Trail Center the rest of the day. Today for preparation day we're going to be celebrating her birthday by going to the Cheesecake Factory and then the mall. Yeah, it was all her idea. It'll be interesting! :)
Hope you all have a wonderful week! I love you so much!
Sister Ferrara :)

Sister Brower and I decided to get matching backpacks since my back has been bothering me a lot. Everything we do, we do it together. Yes, even when it comes to getting backpacks. I love her so much! She is my best friend :) We understand each other completely.
Barlows left...sad day
